We had a great time at the sold out Detroit Future City: Design for Rapid Change a few weeks ago.
The evening kicked off with Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Eric Becker’s experiences in telling the stories of Detroit.
AIA fellow, President of Hamilton Anderson Associates, and Detroit native, Rainy Hamilton laid out his vision for the future of Detroit, and the collaborative planning process used to get there. Rainy reminded us that “good design is good business”, and “if you haven’t invested in Detroit it’s too late”
Activist and architect Dan Pitera presented his work with the award winning Detroit Collaborative Design Center. He gave us a glimpse into the strategies used to engage communities and activate the city. “We have an opportunity in Detroit to create equitable, ecological and inspiring city.”
The evening closed with a lively panel discussion moderated by Lisa Picard, Executive VP of Skanska USA Commercial Development Inc. If you missed it and want to hear more, watch the lecture here:
